** “Fear is the first thing you know when you’re born and the last thing you know when you die,” he turned his head to hold my eyes with his, his irises smoldering gold. “It will never forsake you. It’s not like love and joy, those fleeting emotions. Those emotions that are only there when they’re getting something in return. Those emotions that are gone at the slightest change of plans. Those emotions that you all think are so fucking beautiful.” **If you haven’t read it yet, you really must.
There’s some pretty serious security bugs fixed by a bunch of patches Microsoft released today. Most of them don’t apply to XP users who’ve applied Service Pack 2, but one of the more serious ones does. Service Pack 2 is a pretty large improvement in security for Windows, so if you haven’t installed it yet, you really oughta. The scariest of the flaws is MS04-038, which applies to Internet Explorer and affects everyone who uses it. If you are still using Internet Explorer, you really should consider switching to a better browser. You really should install the patch right away regardless. If you aren’t running Service Pack 2, there’s a bunch of other patches you should apply right away. Windows update will take care of that for you, and you should patch as soon as you can.
Just watched one of my favorite movies: The ‘Burbs. It has a great Jerry Goldsmith score and an excellent cast. I also think it might be Joe Dante’s best work, although I really liked Innerspace and Gremlins. It certainly is the funniest, in my oh so humble opinion. Dante seems to like to reuse cast. Dick Miller and Corey Feldman were both in Gremlins, and Dick Miller and Robert Picardo were both in Innerspace. They also were all scored by Goldsmith. Gremlins is another excellent score of his if you are collecting. If you’ve not seen The ‘Burbs, I highly recommend giving it a rent. Be sure you get it in widescreen though, as it has some fantastic framing and some long takes that just don’t work at all in 4:3.
I hate meetings. I hate them to the very core of the very fiber of my very being.
